SALT LAKE CITY — Multiple charges of tax evasion have been filed against two Utahns by the Utah Attorney General’s Office, officials announced Thursday.
Officials say Rebecca Teece, of South Jordan, hasn’t filed a state individual income tax return for 12 years.
From 2013-18, Teece is alleged to have evaded $11,101 in taxes with an additional $12,298 in penalties and interest, amounting to $23,399 owed to the Utah State Tax Commission.
Teece was charged on April 8 with 12 felony counts of tax evasion and failure to file a tax return, Utah State Tax Commission officials said in a news release.
On Monday, Wayne Rulon Bevan, of Provo, was also charged with 12 felony counts of evasion and failure to file.
Bevan has not filed tax returns since 2004, officials said.
Officials say Bevan willfully evaded $13,525 in taxes from 2013-18 with $14,803 in interest and penalties, meaning he owed the Utah State Tax Commission $28,328 in unpaid taxes.
The felony charges carry a maximum prison sentence of 15 years and a minimum of zero, if Teece and Bevan are found guilty.
Neither court appearance has been scheduled.
