MURRAY — One man is in custody Sunday after shooting his friend and later trying to visit him in the hospital, police say.

Officers responded to a shots fired call about 9:10 p.m. Saturday near a TRAX station at 47 W. Fireclay Ave., according to Murray Police Sgt. Paul Christiansen.

Witnesses told police that two adult male friends got into an argument, and one shot the other. The shooter was not on scene when police arrived, Christiansen said.

The victim was transported to Intermountain Medical Center by another friend who was at the scene. The man who police believe shot the victim showed up later to check on him, Christiansen said, and was taken into custody at the hospital.

Police did not immediately release the injured man's condition.

Neither man was identified by police Sunday.
