SALT LAKE CITY — One person is dead and another injured after an early-morning collision in Salt Lake City.

The auto-pedestrian collision occurred about 1 a.m. Saturday at 300 South and 500 East. The driver was arrested on suspicion of DUI, according to Salt Lake Police Lt. Russ Amott.

Amott said the vehicle was traveling eastbound on 300 South when it approached a red light at 500 East. Two pedestrians were crossing there, traveling south.

The light turned green as the vehicle approached, and it continued through the intersection striking the two pedestrians.

Amott said police were screening additional charges against the driver. The names and ages of the driver and victims have not been released.
