SALT LAKE CITY — A man who police say claimed he wanted to make an amateur pornographic movie with a child now faces serious criminal charges.

Nissyen Lopez, 25, of American Fork, was charged Oct. 23 in 3rd District Court with criminal solicitation and attempted rape of a child, both first-degree felonies. A warrant was issued for his arrest and he was booked into the Salt Lake County Jail on Tuesday.

The investigation began when a Salt Lake police officer working with the FBI Child Exploitation task force found an ad on an undisclosed website from a man “looking for a co-star to make amateur films with.”

The undercover officer responded to the ad and between Sept. 14 and Sept. 27 had an ongoing conversation with Lopez “about making amateur pornographic movies,” according to charging documents.

At one point, the officer told Lopez that his 13-year-old niece was also interested in being in the movie. “Lopez indicated that he was willing to engage in sexual activity with the 13-year-old female and suggested that they get a hotel room and meet up,” the charges state.

The officer told Lopez he would arrange for him to meet the 13-year-old on Sept. 28, the charges say, and when Lopez arrived at the hotel, he was arrested. Salt Lake police said Wednesday they do not believe Lopez had any cameras or movie-making equipment with him when he arrived at the hotel.

Lopez was later released from jail pending the filing of criminal charges and he was rearrested on Tuesday.
