WILDFIRES THREATEN HOMES OF LEBRON JAMES, ARNOLD SCHWARZENEGGER
LOS ANGELES (AP) — A wildfire that swept through the star-studded hills of Los Angeles on Monday has destroyed several large homes, forcing LeBron James and thousands of others to flee.
The Los Angeles Lakers star tweeted that the fires are “no joke,” and that it was a “crazy night.”
The Hollywood premiere of former Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger's "Terminator: Dark Fate" was canceled Monday night.
Others who own homes in the evacuation zone include Sen. Kamala Harris, a Democrat running for president, who was not home at the time; Walt Disney Co. CEO Bob Iger; and rapper and producer Dr. Dre.

ACTOR JARED PADALECKI ACCUSED IN ASSAULT AT HIS AUSTIN BAR
AUSTIN, Texas (AP) — Court documents show that "Supernatural" star Jared Padalecki is accused of assaulting two employees at a downtown Austin bar he owns.
An arrest affidavit says officers arrived at the bar early Sunday. Padalecki, who rose to fame in "Gilmore Girls," has been charged with two counts of misdemeanor assault with injury.
The affidavit says employees escorted him out of the bar after he fought with people inside. The affidavit says employees then tried to keep Padalecki out "because of his intoxicated behavior."
An assistant manager told police that Padalecki slapped him. The affidavit says Padalecki punched the general manager, who was trying to separate him from the assistant manager.
Representatives for Padalecki haven't responded to requests for comment.
Travis County Jail records indicate Padalecki isn't being held Tuesday.
KATHY MATTEA NAMED WVU DISTINGUISHED ARTIST IN RESIDENCE
MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (AP) — Country singer Kathy Mattea (mah-TAY’-ah) will be coaching music students at West Virginia University.
The university says in a news release that the Cross Lanes native has been named a distinguished artist in residence in the School of Music for the 2019-20 academic year.
The statement says the two-time Grammy Award winner will visit the Morgantown campus to give class lectures, offer one-on-one-mentoring and lead master classes with the WVU Bluegrass and Old-Time Bands.
Mattea's first residency will be held this week and will culminate in a public master class with voice students at the university's Museum Education Center on Thursday. The event is free and open to the public with limited seating.
She's scheduled to return to the university in March for a second residency visit.
DEMOLITION HALTED AGAIN FOR BUILDING WITH MUSIC LEGACY
ATLANTA (AP) — An Atlanta man's fight to save a downtown building where the first country hit song is believed to have been recorded will have another chance at survival.
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports Fulton County Superior Court Judge Paige Reese Whitaker granted Kyle Kessler a temporary restraining order Friday. A lawsuit to keep the building from being torn down had been dismissed last week. Whitaker says further review of the proposal to demolish the building is warranted.
A developer plans to build a 21-story Margaritaville-themed hotel and restaurant near where the building currently stands.
Part of the building was knocked down in August before crews learned a different judge had issued a temporary restraining order.
Fiddlin' John Carson likely recorded "Little Log Cabin in the Lane" in the building in 1923.
'MALEFICENT' EDGES 'JOKER' FOR WEEKEND BOX-OFFICE CROWN
LOS ANGELES (AP) — The "Maleficent" sequel has overtaken "Joker" for the weekend box-office crown in North America.
Final figures released Monday showed "Maleficent: Mistress of Evil" earned $19.4 million, pulling ahead of "Joker" by a mere $122,000.
"Joker" had been the top film on Sunday based on studio estimates after being knocked out of the top spot by "Maleficent" last week.
Joaquin Phoenix traces the origins of the classic Batman villain in "Joker." It has earned $278 million in the United States and Canada in its first four weeks, and it is the international record-holder for an R-rated film with $852 million in earnings.
The "Maleficent" sequel, which stars Angelina Jolie as the classic Disney villain, has earned $66.2 million in North America in its first two weeks.
