WEST VALLEY CITY — Criminal charges have been filed against a West Valley man accused of raping his wife’s friend after she passed out.

Brian Joseph Steck, 37, is charged with rape, object rape and forcible sodomy, first-degree felonies, and forcible sexual abuse, a second-degree felony. The charges were filed in the 3rd District Court.

The victim, a friend of Steck’s wife, said she went over to their home for a barbecue in May. After drinking, everyone went into a hot tub and the victim began to feel sick, according to charging documents.

Steck’s wife helped her friend out of the hot tub and put her to bed.

After the victim passed out, she said she remembered waking up to Steck undressing her and raping her, the charges state.

Steck stopped when his wife entered the room and said, “Brian, what are you doing?” according to the charges.

This week a warrant was issued for Steck’s arrest. He was booked into the Salt Lake County Jail and is being held on $250,000 bail.
