ROY — Roy police have located a missing 13-year-old girl who they believed was in danger earlier Tuesday.

On Monday, Aug. 26, around 6:15 a.m., 13-year-old Deija Pena was found with an unknown male in her home. Pena's mother called the police to get the male out of the house, but he fled before police arrived, according to a statement from the Roy Police Department. After the police left the house, Deija ran away from the house, police said.

Police announced via Twitter Deija had been found safe and was reunited with family about 9:40 p.m.

Police earlier on Tuesday believed Deija was in the Davis and Weber county area. Based on her phone location they said she might have been in the Millcreek area of Salt Lake County on Tuesday around 5:50 p.m.

"Deija may possibly be under the influence of illicit narcotics and mentally disabled," an earlier police statement read. "This behavior is not normal to Deija and Millcreek is not an area known by or frequented by Deija."

Because Deija is a minor, further details surrounding how she was found won't be released, Roy police said.
