ORDERVILLE, Kane County — Utah Highway Patrol troopers identified the name of a woman killed in a rollover crash Sunday that left two others severely injured.

Charlee Noteman, 20, of Kanab, died on scene after she was ejected from a truck that had been run off the road by a U-Haul, troopers said.

The truck was southbound on U.S. 89 Sunday about 3:35 p.m. when it moved to the inside lane to pass a U-Haul and another car. While the truck was attempting to pass the car, the U-Haul also changed lanes to pass the car, troopers said.

When that happened, the U-Haul forced the truck off the road, which caused it to roll down an embankment and eject three passengers from the back seat, including Noteman.

The two passengers in the front seat of the truck both wore seat belts and suffered minor injuries, troopers said. The three passengers in the back were not wearing seat belts, officials added. Had they been “properly restrained,” officials said, it’s likely the ejected passengers wouldn’t have been as severely injured and Noteman could have survived the wreck.

The driver of the U-Haul didn’t stop after the crash and troopers said the driver “may not have realized their movement forced the pickup off the road.”

Anyone with information regarding the U-Haul is asked to call Kane County dispatch at 435-644-2349.
