MURRAY — Three separate brush fires burned within a 1-mile radius and within 15 minutes of each other in Murray on Tuesday, according to fire officials.

One fire was located at approximately 200 West 4500 South; another was also along 4500 South at about 600 West; and the last was approximately at 4800 South and 500 West, near the Jordan River Trail.

Murray Fire Department Assistant Chief Chad Pascua said all three fires were extinguished by about 6 p.m. and firefighters were working to ensure the fires wouldn’t reignite.

No injuries were reported and no structures were threatened in the fires, according to fire officials.

The largest of the three, the one neat 200 West and 4500 South, grew to about 3-acres, according to Pascua.

The cause of the blazes is under investigation and Pascua said one witness reported seeing a person running near the south-most fire at 500 West 4800 South.

"All three fires happened really fast, within 15 minutes, which is very suspicious," he noted.
