SALT LAKE CITY — Generations of Utahns have known Pioneer Day, the anniversary of the Brigham Young-led pioneers arriving in the Salt Lake Valley, as a celebration of Utah state history and, in some cases, the history of their own families.

The modern celebration has its roots in the Nauvoo Brass Band’s 1849 commemoration of the second anniversary of the pioneers’ arrival, but today’s Pioneer Day has grown into time for festivities for the whole family — usually capped off with fireworks celebrations to rival the 4th of July.

Below, you'll find a list of fireworks shows planned throughout the state, with each city’s Pioneer Day activities linked where possible. Admission is free, unless otherwise noted.
