DENVER (AP) — Utah prosecutors are recommending probation for a Denver man who posted a Facebook message threatening to kill "as many girls as I see." If a judge on Thursday accepts the terms of Christopher Cleary's plea bargain, it won't be the first time he avoids a prison term. Judges in Colorado gave Cleary similar breaks after a string of women and teenagers accused him of making threats and harassing them.

WASHINGTON (AP) — U.S. Interior Secretary David Bernhardt says he has no plans for additional changes to national monuments as recommended by his predecessor, but that it's ultimately up to President Donald Trump. Trump in 2017 shrank two sprawling Utah monuments at the recommendation of former Interior Sec. Ryan Zinke. The president has not acted on proposals to shrink two monuments in Oregon and Nevada and change rules at six others.

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Utah lawmakers say reforming the state tax system could include anything from ending the income tax to broadening the tax base. The Deseret News reports lawmakers and state officials floated reform ideas during a panel at the Utah Taxes Now Conference on Tuesday. Republican Senate Majority Whip Dan Hemmert told the audience that lawmakers need to consider "big, bold ideas" to improve the tax system. The state Legislature earlier this year formed a task force to take up tax reform.

WINDOW ROCK, Ariz. (AP) — President Donald Trump has approved a disaster declaration for the Navajo Nation and directed that federal officials provide aid as reimbursement for expenses stemming from a major snowstorm and subsequent flooding in late February. The White House announcement Wednesday said Trump on Tuesday ordered that federal aid be used to supplement tribal efforts in the affected areas.
