OGDEN — Police are investigating a homicide that happened shortly after midnight Sunday on the 500 block of 31st Street.

Officers were dispatched to a report of a shooting in the area and arrived to find a man unconscious on the sidewalk "bleeding from an apparent gunshot wound," according to a press release posted on the Ogden Police Department’s Facebook page.

The man, who police say is in his 20s, died a short time later. Police haven't released his name to the public.

Officers arrested Everardo Guarrama-Garcia, 24, in connection with the shooting. "The available evidence suggests this was an isolated incident and there is no ongoing threat to the public,” the press release said.

Anyone with information about this shooting is encouraged to contact the Ogden Police Department Major Crimes Bureau at 801-629-8228.
