AMERICAN FORK — A 10-year-old girl who was critically injured Wednesday after she slammed into a moving car while riding her bike has died, officials confirmed.
The girl, whose name has not been released, was taken off of life support Friday afternoon, according to American Fork Police Lt. Josh Christensen.
The girl had hit the side of a moving car when she entered the intersection at 560 West and 1120 North Wednesday evening.
She was wearing a helmet but suffered a head injury and was taken to American Fork Hospital in critical condition. She was then airlifted to Primary Children’s Hospital, officials said.
Police were unsure why the girl had entered the intersection or whether she was alone or with friends at the time of the crash.
The driver involved stayed at the scene and was cooperative with police. Excessive speed did not appear to be a factor in the crash, officials said.
Further details were not immediately available.
