MIDWAY — An 18-year-old rock climber who fell 20 feet while rappelling Saturday remained hospitalized Sunday and in a coma.

Avery Tanner, of Heber City, sustained "major" head injuries, according to a GoFundMe page* in her name. Tanner was climbing with friends at Wasatch Mountain State Park Saturday when she fell, according to Utah State Parks spokesman Eugene Swalberg. She was flown to Intermountain Medical Center in Murray, where she had surgery.

State parks officers originally believed Tanner was 20 years old, but Swalberg confirmed Sunday she is 18. She was not wearing a helmet at the time of her fall, he said.
