THE YOUTUBE — The video featured in this article is not incredibly famous.
It was first posted to YouTube in May 2009. You probably won’t recognize or remember it, and chances are high that most of the internet population has ever seen it at all.
So why am I claiming it’s classic? As a counter, let me ask you this: Do puns and dad jokes ever die? No, no they do not. And if they never die, they obviously become classic. It’s science.
The thing that makes this 10-year-old video amazing is how it crosses and connects decades of comedy. From the ba-dum-tss following the bad jokes of lounge singers and early comedians, to dad jokes employed by all dads everywhere, to dad jokes that are a little bit grosser to delight the 10-year-olds within earshot, this clip has it all.
To finish introducing this video, it is time for a joke: What do you get when you cross two nerds, two drums, a cymbal and a cliff? Answer: this video.
OK, so it wasn’t so much as a joke, but a nice vague description of what you’ll see in the video. And believe me you, it’s worth the one-minute watch.
If all that wasn’t enough to convince you to watch and love, also know that you’ll get to visually relive the hair and clothing styles of a specific kind of nerd in the late 90s. It’s the video that keeps on giving, and I’ll be more happy to revisit it again in another 10 years.
