DELTA — A man was arrested after fleeing the scene of a hit-and-run in Eureka, leading the police on a chase in a stolen car before crashing again in Delta, police say.
Utah Highway Patrol troopers responded to a hit-and-run around 6:50 a.m. in Eureka, according to a UHP press statement. Officers quickly located the suspected car, a black 2016 Ford Explorer, traveling on state Route 6 towards Delta. The driver refused to pull over and officers began a pursuit with the help from Millard County Sheriff's officials, UHP said. The chase was called off as the vehicles approached Delta.
The man in the Explorer continued to flee police while driving through residential neighborhoods until the vehicle crashed into a ditch on the corner of 400 South and 700 East in Delta, officials said. Officers on the scene got the male driver out of the vehicle and into custody. UHP said the Explorer was stolen overnight from a body shop in Tooele.
Officials have not yet released details on the man who was taken into custody.
