MAGNA — Eastbound I-80 will close at the state Route 201 interchange in Tooele County from Friday evening to Saturday afternoon as crews complete repairs on a bridge, officials said.
The closures will last from 7 p.m. Friday evening until noon on Saturday, according to a news release from the Utah Department of Transportation. During the closure, eastbound commuters will detour onto state Route 201 near the Salt Lake-Tooele County border, then to state Route 202 and back to eastbound I-80.
Drivers should plan for delays and extra travel time.
Crews will be repairing the pavement on the bridge over the Union Pacific railroad tracks and must give it “ample time to cure” to ensure the new concrete does not crack under heavy traffic, UDOT said in the news release.
Eastbound I-80 in that area passes by the Great Salt Lake State Park. Visitors traveling that direction to the park will want to plan for extra travel time.
