EDEN, Weber County — Authorities have identified a man who died after a cargo truck rolled onto its side on state Route 158 on Wednesday evening.

Carlos Guzman Hernandez, 37, died in the crash, according to an emailed statement from Weber County Sheriff’s Lt. Matt Jensen. Hernandez, who was a passenger in the truck, is from Guatemala City, Guatemala.

The crash took place shortly before 5 p.m. Wednesday near mile marker 9 on Powder Mountain Road. S.R. 158 was closed in both directions for most of the evening as a result of the crash.

The investigation into the crash is ongoing, Jensen said. On Wednesday evening, officials said they believed brake failure may have been a factor in the crash.

The truck was the only vehicle involved in the crash.

No other information about the crash was available Thursday.
