SALT LAKE CITY — Police released the name of the man Tuesday who died in a skiing accident at Brighton Ski Resort on Monday.

The skier was identified as Michael Rueckert, 63, according to a tweet from the Unified Police Department.

Witnesses said Rueckert lost control when he avoided a stopped skier around 1:30 p.m. He then hit a tree.

Members of Brighton's ski patrol and paramedics with Unified Fire Authority administered first aid but were unable to revive him. Rueckert was pronounced dead at the resort.
