MIDVALE – A new video from the Utah Transit Authority shows the moment before a woman was hit by a TRAX train while she was distracted.

The woman was paying attention to her cellphone while walking across two sets of tracks Nov. 21 as the train was pulling into the Midvale station.

Authorities said the force of the train threw her into a nearby fence, but she remarkably got up and tried to walk away. She was taken to a hospital to be checked out, and she didn’t have any injuries.

Pedestrians are asked to remove earphones and look up from their devices when in the vicinity of train tracks.
