PROVO — Five people were injured in a crash in Provo Canyon, Friday afternoon, authorities said.
The crash took place about 4:14 p.m. near the intersection of U.S. Highway 189 and state Route 92, Utah Highway Patrol officials said on the agency’s website.
A pickup truck heading west on Highway 189 lost control and crossed over into eastbound traffic, officials said. The truck collided head-on with a passenger car.
The female driver of the car suffered injuries that were considered to be critical but not life-threatening, and three juveniles in the car received minor injuries, UHP said. The driver of the truck suffered serious injuries, according to officials.
Snowy roads in the area are a contributing factor in the crash, officials said.
UHP did not provide any other information about the crash, including identifying information about the people involved.
Three right lanes of the eastbound side of the highway were closed for about two hours in the area. The crash scene was cleared by 8 p.m., according to the Utah Department of Transportation website.
