THE LIVING ROOM — Now that Thanksgiving is officially here, it's time to haul out the holly and put up the tree before my spirit falls again, as the lyric goes.

But for pet owners, it's not as simple and pleasurable as all that. Shiny new sights and smells have gotten the better of many a dog and cat during the holiday season, and many a Christmas tree and strands of lights have suffered because of it.

This year, someone came up with a new way to keep the cats away from your festive tree.

The video shows you everything you need to succeed to keep both your cats and decor safe this year. Sure, you have to make a few visual concessions, but it's still a “have your cake and eat it too” scenario.

All you need is a small tree, a large kennel, your normal deocor and a herd of cats.

As you'll see in the video, there's a bonus. This festive setup will drive your cat(s) a little crazy, potentially giving you hours of free entertainment during the holidays.

As a double bonus, this setup would also work for toddlers and handsy, irresponsible adults.
