SOLDIER SUMMIT — U.S. Highway 6 has reopened in both directions at Soldier Summit after a crash Friday, officials said.
The highway was briefly closed, but one lane was open in each direction as of 1:30 p.m., according to Utah Department of Transportation officials.
The crash took place shortly before 1 p.m. near milepost 210, just west of Soldier Summit at the Utah-Wasatch County border.
A pickup truck traveling west spun out and rolled several hundred feet down an embankment, according to Utah Highway Patrol Trooper Tara Wahlberg. The male driver, who was the only person in the car, was able to get out of his vehicle after the crash, but then had a medical issue, Wahlberg said. He was transported from the scene in a medical helicopter.
Wet road conditions appeared to have played a role in the crash, she added.
UDOT officials were estimating the highway would not be completely cleared for at least two hours— until about 3:30 p.m., according to the agency’s website.
