RIVERTON — A SWAT situation involving a man and his three children ended safely in Riverton Tuesday morning, police said.
Police received a call and responded to a home near 13400 South and 5200 West around 2 a.m., according to Unified Police. A man at his parents' home was threatening to harm himself and his three children, ages 10, 8 and 5, police said.
SWAT arrived and a negotiator contacted the man. Police took James Dansie, 34, into custody and the children were declared safe just before 6:30 a.m.
Dansie was booked into the Salt Lake County Jail for investigation of threats of violence and domestic violence in the presence of a child, according to Unified Police.
The children were expected to be reunited with their mother.
