SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (AP) — The Latest on allegations of sexual misconduct against Lake Barrington Republican Rep. Nick Sauer (all times local):

3 p.m.

Republican state Rep. Nick Sauer has submitted his resignation amid allegations that he posted nude photos of an ex-girlfriend on social media.

Sauer filed a resignation letter Wednesday with the House clerk's office.

Politico reported that a Chicago woman filed complaints with the Chicago Police Department and the legislative inspector general against the first-term lawmaker from Lake Barrington. The woman claims that the 35-year-old Sauer posted explicit photos of her on Instagram to lure other men into sexual conversations.

Sauer said in his letter that "my ability to fulfill my obligations as a state representative ... will be affected by the distraction of addressing these allegations."

Sauer did not return phone, emailed or text messages seeking comment.

Sauer was a member of the House Sexual Harassment and Discrimination Task Force. He was seeking re-election in November.
