SR 39 reopens at mouth of Ogden Canyon in Weber County after brush fire

SALT LAKE CITY — A new wildfire closed both directions of state Route 39 at the mouth of Ogden Canyon in Weber County Wednesday afternoon, according to a tweet from the Utah Department of Transportation.

The Middle Canyon Fire is now 77 percent contained, and a new blaze from the Dollar Ridge Fire burned 50 to 100 acres of timber Tuesday night, according to fire officials.

Crews continued to fight several wildfires across the state Wednesday.

Tollgate Fire in Summit County is 65 percent contained

Four homes are still under a warning and two cell phone towers are still threatened by the Tollgate Fire, burning about five miles southwest of Wanship in Tollgate Canyon. Fire crews are expected to be on the scene throughout the weekend, Summit County officials said on Twitter. Gusting winds are kicking up dust, ash and soot near the fire area, officials said. People are asked not to call police dispatch if they see dust clouds.

Wildfire burning northeast of Flaming Gorge in Wyoming

The Laney Rim Fire is burning at 12,465 acres about 25 miles south of Rock Springs, Wyoming, according to Bureau of Land Management officials.

The Laney Rim fire, located approx 25 miles south of Rock Springs, grew to around 12,465 acres. The SW Type 3 Incident Mgt Team is currently managing the fire. Sections are burning in steep, rocky, inaccessible terrain and aviation resources are being used in these areas. pic.twitter.com/uUmSAhWlpn

State Route 39 reopens in Ogden Canyon after brush fire

A brush fire briefly closed both directions of state Route 39 in Ogden Canyon, but the road reopened at about 3:30 p.m., officials report. The road is now open to all traffic, according to a tweet from the Utah Department of Transportation.

Fire closes state Route 39 at mouth of Ogden Canyon in Weber County

A new wildfire closed both directions of state Route 39 at the mouth of Ogden Canyon in Weber County Wednesday afternoon, according to a tweet from the Utah Department of Transportation. The road is also closed in Huntsville east of Pine View Dam, UDOT tweeted. Officials suggest using state Route 158 as an alternate route. The cause of the fire has not yet been released.

Goose Creek Fire in Box Elder County remains about 123K acres

The lightning-caused Goose Creek Fire did not show any "appreciable growth" Tuesday, according to fire officials. The fire has burned almost 123,000 acres and is still 35 percent contained.

Nevada's China Jim Fire and the Goose Creek Fire combined Sunday evening, forming a fire that is threatening houses in nearby Grouse Creek, Box Elder County. The Groose Creek Fire began Thursday. Structure protection is still a priority for fire crews.

Cove Creek Fire in Millard, Beaver counties at 43 percent containment

The lightning-caused Cove Creek Fire in Millard and Beaver counties has burned 2,586 acres and is 43 percent contained.

The blaze is 7 miles east of the I-70/I-15 interchange near Shingle Creek in Sevier County.

Middle Canyon Fire in Tooele County at 77 percent containment

The human-caused Middle Canyon Fire in Tooele County has burned 171 acres and is 77 percent contained.

The fire began Thursday, but the exact cause is still under investigation. Those with any information can call the Tooele County Sheriff's Office at 435-882-5600.

Dollar Ridge Fire burns 50 to 100 acres of timber in Duchesne County Tuesday

Fifty to 100 acres of timber on Forest Service land within the Dollar Ridge Fire perimeter actively burned Tuesday night in the Timber Canyon area, according to a Facebook post from the Duchesne County Sheriff's Office. No structures were threatened by the fire, but the glow was visible from far away. Authorities explained that the blaze was not a new fire but part of the Dollar Ridge Fire — one of the biggest in the state.
