LAKE POWELL, Kane County — A 47-year-old man drowned in Lake Powell Wednesday, officials said.

The man was trying to retrieve a boat anchor in the Warm Creek Bay area when he became entangled in a line and did not resurface, according to Glen Canyon National Recreation Area spokeswoman Maschelle Zia.

The man’s name was not immediately released because the family was still being notified, Zia said.

Some park rangers and family members helped get him out of the water, she said. They began performing life-saving measures, but the man was taken to a hospital and was later pronounced dead.

Zia did not provide any other details about the drowning.
