DRAPER — Police are once again asking for the public’s help in locating a 15-year-old girl who ran away while she was getting a check-up at a hospital after she was located Tuesday.
Analiese Urbanczyk ran away from her home on March 12 and hadn’t been seen or heard from since, which led to Draper police asking for the public's help in locating her Tuesday.
She was then located on Tuesday near Jordan Park in Salt Lake City by someone who had recognized her from fliers placed throughout Draper government buildings, Draper Police Sgt. Scott Adams said.
However, he said Urbanczky ran away from a hospital where she had been taken for a check-up after she was found.
"Now we're back to square one again and we'll start the investigation all over again," Adams said.
Kim Urbanczyk, Analiese's mother, said her daughter has had a history of mental illness, substance abuse and also running away. March was the longest she had been missing. She was worried she'd never see Analiese alive again.
When she was found, Analiese Urbanczyk was taken to at the University of Utah Hospital and had become upset before she was seen by a doctor, said Kim Urbanczyk. She said the teen then ran out the front door and across the street from Mario Capecchi Drive and disappeared again before family or security guards could catch up with her.
"She got upset, she got agitated and I didn't see it coming," Kim Urbanczyk said. "She booked it out of there as soon as she got the chance. It just happened so fast. ... Nobody did anything to stop her. Someone could have helped me chase her."
Kim Urbanczyk is concerned once again for Analiese's wellbeing.
"I really believe she is hurting and just fell apart," Kim Urbanczyk said. "She's not a bad kid."
Analiese Urbanczyk is described as white, 5-foot-2 and 100 pounds. She has brown hair, brown eyes and two piercings on her lower lip. Adams said they will continue to check the downtown Salt Lake City and West Valley City areas since that is where they know she frequently visits.
Anyone who knows anything about Urbanczyk's whereabouts is encouraged to call Draper police at 801-840-4000.
