DRAPER — A popular restaurant reopened Friday after Salt Lake County health officials closed it Thursday, citing nine critical health code violations and eight other violations.

Health officials said La Hacienda Mexican Restaurant, 12434 S. Minuteman Drive, was closed for various reasons including keeping vegetables, meat and salsa at temperatures too warm and not having all floor or wall junctures covered and sealed, according to a Salt Lake County Health Department report.

Other violations included lighting issues, dirty walls in “various areas” and plates that weren’t covered to prevent contamination, the report stated.

However, it reopened Friday after health officials deemed it had cleaned up the violations.

The restaurant had 10 critical violations during a May 2017 inspection, nine during a January 2017 inspection and 12 critical violations in September 2014, according to previous Salt Lake County Health Department reports. However, none of those reports resulted in a closure of the restaurant; rather, officials wrote that owners were advised and educated about the violations.
