WHITEROCKS — A small wildfire is contained after it burned 100 acres on Uintah-Ouray tribal lands in Uintah County, officials said.
Fire crews would continue mopping up the burn area on Wednesday evening, Bureau of Indian Affairs Fort Duchesne Police officials said on Facebook.
The fire, which burned east of the town of Whiterocks, was threatening structures, Utah Wildfire Information officials reported on Twitter.
It began burning about 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, according to Bureau of Indian Affairs Forestry and Wildland Fire officials. At that time, BIA officials were asking all non-emergency personnel to avoid the area because it was already becoming congested.
Around 5:30 p.m. Uintah County Emergency Management officials said there were no evacuation orders in Tridell, a town east of Whiterocks.
The cause of the fire was not immediately known.
