ROCKLAND RANCH, San Juan County — A 2-year-old boy died after a fire broke out in the bedroom he was napping in Saturday, authorities said.
Adonijah Foster died from smoke inhalation, sheriff’s office officials said Wednesday. Authorities said family members removed the toddler from the room after the fire broke out and performed CPR until deputies and emergency crews arrived at the home.
However, Foster was pronounced dead at the scene. Two others inside the home were transported to a hospital with smoke inhalation and released later that day.
A GoFundMe page* originally set up to help the family pay for funeral costs has raised nearly $40,000 as of Wednesday. The page was also raising funds for medical expenses and repairs to the home damaged in the fire.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation. Authorities did not provide an estimate for the damage the fire caused.
