RICHFIELD — Air and ground crews resumed their search for a Cessna 210 single-engine plane last seen heading to Utah Monday, Rocky Mountain Region Civil Air Patrol officials said Wednesday.
The plane carrying just the pilot left Erie, a town north of Denver, Colorado, Monday morning and failed to reach its destination of Richfield Municipal Airport. A family member of the pilot alerted authorities Monday evening, Maj. Andrew Scott with the Air Force Rescue Coordination Center said.
Scott said the Civil Air Patrol conducted radar and cellphone data to narrow its search area of the Rocky Mountains southwest of Denver. Crews from the Army National Guard High-Altitude Aviation Training Site also assisted in the search Wednesday.
The pilot's name and plane number were not immediately released. Scott said he didn't know if the pilot was from Colorado or Utah.
Nine aircraft searched a 120-square mile swath of land for the missing pilot Tuesday, according to KUSA in Denver. The outlet also reported the pilot did not submit a flight plan, which has made searching for the plane difficult.
