1. 2 killed, 3 critically injured in NYC helicopter crash
A helicopter crashed into New York City's East River Sunday night and flipped upside down in the water, killing two of the six people aboard and leaving three others in critical condition, officials said.
Video taken by a bystander and posted on Twitter shows the red helicopter land hard in the water and then capsize, its rotors slapping at the water.
2. Trump backs off call for raising minimum age to buy gun
The White House on Sunday pledged to help states pay for firearms training for teachers and reiterated its call to improve the background check system as part of a new plan to prevent school shootings.
But despite what President Donald Trump repeatedly championed, the plan does not include a push to increase the minimum age for purchasing assault weapons to 21.
3. 16-year-old bicyclist in critical condition after being struck by a car
A 16-year-old was transported to Primary Children's Hospital in critical condition after being struck by a car while riding a bicycle Saturday.
The accident occurred when the victim and his friend tried to cross Pony Express Parkway on their BMX bikes.
4. Skier, 70, dies after hitting pole during ski race
A 70-year-old man was skiing down a private group race course at Deer Valley Resort Friday when he hit a pole toward the end of the course, according to Emily Summers, the resort's senior communications manager.
5. Family mourns loss of man after Sandy industrial accident
A family is mourning after losing their brother in a freak accident at a construction site near 11450 S. 1000 East Friday.
A massive pipe crushed Russell Andrews, 46, after it fell off the chain hoisting it in the air. But Andrews' family wants answers after they said their brother was a dump truck driver and had no business helping lay pipe on the construction site.
