SOUTH SALT LAKE — Police said a man arrested on suspicion of assault got away while being taken to jail early Monday morning, but his escape didn't last long.
Draper police were transporting Evan Buckley, 21, to the Salt Lake County Jail. He was suspected of aggravated assault with a firearm, according to Draper police Sgt. Boyle. When they were on I-15 near 3500 South, officers said Buckley broke the window of the police car and jumped out onto the freeway.
He made it about a half mile before officers used a Taser and took him back into custody, Boyle said.
Details about the alleged assault were not immediately available.
