BOISE — Idaho Fish and Game announced several rule changes to this year’s hunting and trapping seasons.

Statewide, the closing date to hunt cottontails will be extended to March 31, the Times-News reported.

Turkey hunters will get an increased daily bag limit to two turkeys in the spring; for fall hunts, the daily bag limit will align with the number of tags a hunter possesses. Hunters can apply for spring controlled turkey hunts from Feb. 1 through March 1. More information is available at idgf.idaho.gov.

Additional changes for hunting turkeys have been made to the following regions: Panhandle, Clearwater, southwest Idaho, southeast Idaho and Salmon. Interested persons can see the full changes at idgf.idaho.gov/rules/upland.

For changes in the trapping of foxes in southwestern Idaho and of beavers in southeastern Idaho, visit idgf.idaho.gov/rules.

For those who don’t have internet access, new rules booklets are expected to be out in mid-to-late February at regional Idaho Fish and Game offices.
