1. 2 skiers sent to hospitals after in-bounds avalanche at Snowbasin
Two skiers — a brother and a sister — were sent to hospitals after an in-bounds avalanche at Snowbasin ski resort Sunday afternoon, according to the Weber County Sheriff's Office.
The sister, who is 23 years old, was buried under about 4 to 5 feet of snow for an estimated 5 to 10 minutes, said Sgt. Terance Lavely.
2. Search ongoing for shooting suspect that led to Herriman manhunt
The hunt for a man police said shot a homeowner and fired at an officer on Saturday is ongoing, a Unified police spokesman said Sunday.
"Us and Salt Lake City (Police Department) are working really hard to find him. We're following up on leads and tips, and hopefully, we'll get him in custody soon," said Unified Police Lt. Brian Lohrke.
3. Shutdown extends into workweek, as Senate talks continue
The government shutdown is set to sow more disruption and political peril Monday after the Senate inched closer but ultimately fell short of an agreement that would have reopened federal agencies before the beginning of the workweek.
4. Police cancel Amber Alert after pinging phone to find girl
Police canceled an Amber Alert for 8-year-old Jazsmine Corianna Leah Winston after locating her unharmed about an hour and 45 minutes after the alert was issued Saturday.
According to South Salt Lake police, Jazsmine was with her father, Robert Winston, 53, who does not have legal custody of her.
5. US marches for women's rights slam Trump, encourage voting
Demonstrators from Los Angeles to New York marched in support of female empowerment and denounced President Donald Trump's views on immigration, abortion, LGBT rights and women's rights on Saturday, the anniversary of his inauguration.

Haws tied a season-high with 24 points, including four 3-pointers, and Jahshire Hardnett added a career-best 17 points and eight rebounds to help BYU pull away for a 74-58 win Saturday night over San Diego in a snow-covered Marriott Center.

Tyler Rawson scored 22 points and knocked down a career-high six 3-pointers as Utah beat Washington State 82-69.
