ST. GEORGE — Police have arrested a man who they say broke into two homes Tuesday.
Jaime Santos Torres, whose hometown and age were not released Tuesday, was taken into custody after officers spotted a red Ford F-150 earlier captured by security cameras as it left a St. George home, police said.
The truck was parked at a construction site near the Stone Cliffs neighborhood, where officers found Torres, the St. George Police Department said on its Facebook page.
Torres was being held for investigation of burglary and assault, though police didn't say where he was in custody. As of late Tuesday, he had not been charged.
Earlier, during the noon hour, police received similar reports about home break-ins about a half-hour apart. The first incident was about 12:15 p.m. in the area of 3240 South in Little Valley. A 19-year-old woman told police she had just gotten out of the shower when Santos came into her home and her room, shut the door behind him and asked if she was alone.
She said no and yelled for her roommate, police said.
"The male made a motion consistent with wanting to cover her mouth, which caused the victim to fear he was going to assault her. She continued to yell, and he ran out of the house," according to the Facebook post.
The second break-in happened about 12:45 p.m. in the Washington Fields area, police said, and the man fit the same description: Hispanic, in his 20s, about 6 feet tall and 200 pounds, wearing green basketball shorts and a gray T-shirt.
