SALT LAKE CITY — In Week 7, Alex Smith continues to lead the league in touchdown passes, completion percentage and passer rating. Daniel Sorensen leads the Chiefs in tackles for the second straight game.

Alex Smith (Utah)

The Kansas City Chiefs started off 5-0 and looked like the team to beat in the NFL this season. All that has changed in the last two weeks. The Chiefs have suffered two straight losses against Pittsburgh and now Oakland.

Even with the losses, Smith has continued to show he is one of the most consistent quarterbacks in the league this year. Against Oakland, Smith was 25-36 passing for 342 yards and three touchdowns. Smith has now thrown 15 touchdowns with zero interceptions.

Smith leads the league in touchdown passes (15), overall completion percentage (72.4) and quarterback passer rating (120.5). Smith is also in second place in passing yards with 1,979. Smith has also thrown for over 300 yards in three games this season and has thrown for more than one touchdown in four games.

Smith has almost matched his numbers for last year in only seven games this season. He threw 15 touchdowns last year and rushed for a total of 134 yards. Smith has rushed for 121 yards on only 28 attempts this year. He rushed 48 times last year.

Smith will have his work cut out for him next Monday against the smothering Denver Bronco defense. Denver is in second place in the AFC West at 3-3, with Kansas City leading the division at 5-2. The Broncos' defense is allowing only 258.5 yards per game this year, which leads the league, with 186.7 of them passing.

Daniel Sorensen (BYU)

Sorensen again proved he can fill the hole that Pro Bowl-er Eric Berry left with his injury. Sorensen led the Chiefs with six solo tackles, three assisted tackles and two tackles for loss. Sorensen now leads the team with 41 combined tackles for the season, 30 of which are solo tackles. He has led the team in tackles for the last two games, with eight combined tackles last week.
