Ogden police say they think they know why a man walked into their station this morning and shot himself.
It happened shortly after 8:00. "He came in. He sat down on that couch right there momentarily. One of the desk officers came out to see if he needed assistance or wanted to make a report. He said, ‘No. I just want to catch my breath for a moment,'" explained Assistant Police Chief Randy Watt.
Watt said, a short time later, 71-year-old Chris R. Esquibel walked into a bathroom and shot himself in the head. He died from the injury.
Watt said Esquibel was a suspect in a sexual assault involving a family member and that he had a note with him apologizing for what he called the "bother."
The note did not contain any kind of confession.
