GLENWOOD, Sevier County — A 16-year-old boy was killed in a motorcycle accident Saturday, officials confirmed Monday evening.
Hunter Jensen, 19, and his 16-year-old friend were riding motorcycles in the Glenwood Hills area northeast of Glenwood Saturday, said Sevier County Sheriff Nathan Curtis in a released statement. The two teens rode back to their truck to get something to drink. When Jensen arrived at the vehicle, he noticed his friend was not behind him. Jensen rode back to the previous area and found the 16-year-old boy had crashed his motorcycle, Curtis said.
Jensen tried to revive his friend but was unsuccessful and quickly returned to the truck to call 911. First responders arrived and attempted life-saving measures but were unable to resuscitate him, Curtis said.
A preliminary investigation indicates the teen had missed a turn while traveling at a high speed and slammed into a ravine. His helmet, which officials believe was not buckled, was thrown off in the crash, Curtis said.
As of Monday evening, officials had not identified the deceased teenager and only said he was from Junction, Utah.
