(KSL News) Once a year, Utahns take a moment to remember the hundreds of people who save lives.

We're not talking about law enforcement or military personnel, but ordinary people who have donated blood, organs and tissues for transplants.

Hundreds of people gathered at the Celebration of Life Donor Monument at Salt Lake's Liberty Square today. The names of 210 life-saving donors were added to that monument.

Pat Child/ Husband was a donor: "He always wanted to be a donor. It was hard, but I knew it was something he wanted to do and I feel good about it, especially after hearing some of the testimonies of people that are recipients."

Pat Child lost her husband Michael in April. The ceremony was especially emotional for her because today is her husband's birthday.
