Team coveragePolice say they have the second suspect in custody in connection with a murder this morning. But they didn't catch him until after the West Jordan SWAT team had to be called for assistance.
Around 8:00 this evening, a SWAT team helped round up several suspects in West Jordan. Detectives weren't sure exactly who was who or if they were tied to this murder. However, after doing some interviews, they now say they have the right person.
All this started when West Jordan police received a call early this morning about some suspicious circumstances. When they arrived at the Broadmore Village Apartments, the apartment in question was empty, but there was evidence something happened.
A short time later, police in West Valley found a man bound and gagged inside a storage shed near a house at 4605 Rickys Drive. They believe victim, who later died at the hospital, is the man who lived in the West Jordan apartment complex.
"There's evidence there was a struggle, and witnesses indicated that the victim was beaten at that location and taken from that location," said West Jordan police Sgt. Greg Butler.
One man has already been arrested. Pailate Lumu, who turned 44 years old today, is in jail charged with kidnapping and murder.
The name of the 32-year-old man who died has not been released yet, and neither has the name of the second suspect taken into custody.
