BOISE, Idaho (AP) — Officials say a 43-year-old southwestern Idaho man found dead in a field late last month died of dehydration after his pickup truck got stuck in mud.

Payette County Coroner Keith Schuller tells the Idaho Statesman in a story on Friday that Jeff Brenner died after spending hours in 90-degree weather without water and wearing a black shirt.

Schuller says Brenner struck out cross country rather than following a road after his truck got stuck.

A landowner found his body on June 6 in an irrigated field about 3.5 miles (5.6 kilometers) from his truck.
