WILLARD, Box Elder County — A spark from a power line ignited a wildfire Friday evening that was burning across 50 acres.
Roughly 50 firefighters were battling the hillside blaze east of U.S. 89 through strong winds and steep, rocky terrain. More teams from multiple agencies were expected to arrive later, Box Elder County Fire Department said in a prepared statement.
Several structures were threatened, but none had been overtaken by flames and no evacuations or injuries were reported as of 9:30 p.m.
Authorities urged people seeking a glimpse of the fire to stay off U.S. 89 near Willard and South Willard so crews could retain access to the fire.
