NEW YORK, Aug 23, 2006 (UPI via COMTEX) -- The second U.S. Quill Award nominees include popular best sellers and literary gems such as National Book Award winner, "The March," by E.L. Doctorow.
The Quills have 19 genre categories plus a 20th category, Book of the Year, open to all nominees, Book Standard reported.
Winners will be chosen by the popular online vote and announced Oct. 10 on NBC. The awards are co-sponsored by NBC and Reed Business Information.
Nominees for Debut Author of the Year include: "The $64 Tomato" by William Alexander; "Julie & Julia" by Julie Powell; "The Last Templar" by Raymond Khoury; "The Madonnas of Leningrad" by Debra Dean; and "The Ride of Our Lives: Roadside Lessons of an American Family" by Mike Leonard.
Nominees for General Fiction include: "Black Swan Green" by David Mitchell; "A Dirty Job" by Christopher Moore; "The March" by E.L. Doctorow; "Suite Française" by Irene Nemirovsky; and "Water for Elephants" by Sara Gruen.
Nominees for Audio Book include: "A Dirty Job" by Christopher Moore; "Manhunt: The 12-Day Chase for Lincoln's Killer" by James L. Swanson; "Marley & Me" by John Grogan; "Teacher Man" by Frank McCourt; and "Team of Rivals: The Political Genius of Abraham Lincoln" by Doris Kearns Goodwin.
