A pair of notable eight-game streaks are on the line Friday night when BYU plays at Utah State. BYU has won eight in a row against the Ags--last losing 58-56 in 1993.

Utah State is also 0-8 in the Brent Guy era when facing ranked teams, and none of the eight games has been close. Guy's Aggies have lost the eight games against ranked teams by an AVERAGE margin of 40.1 points per game!

The closest of the eight games was a 52-37 loss at #16 Hawaii in 2007; the other seven were decided by 42, 32, 39, 51, 52, 42 and 48 points. Every ranked team has scored at least 35 points against the Guy-coached Ags.

Additionally, Utah State has lost 21 in a row to ranked teams, and the Ags are 0-10 when playing BYU as a ranked team.

A win over Utah State would be BYU's 15th consecutive victory since last season's loss at Tulsa, and a 15th straight win would make it the third-longest winning streak in BYU Football history. BYU won 25 in a row from 1983 to 1985, and 17 in a row from 1980 to 1981.

At Utah State, the BYU offense will seek to avoid a slow start like the one that hampered the team v. Wyoming. BYU put up its lowest total offense numbers of the season in the 1st quarter against the Cowboys, gaining only 40 yards. However, BYU bounced back in the second quarter with its BEST total offense quarter of the season, racking up 195 yards.

The second quarter has been BYU's best quarter, by far, this season. The Cougars are outscoring the opposition 75-7 in the 15 minutes leading into halftime.

The Bronco Mendenhall Show is back on the air tonight--live from Ken Garff Honda on University Parkway in Orem. The show starts at 7:00pm, but I'll be there starting at 5:00, joined by the good folks from Iceberg Drive-Inns, who will have the grills fired up early and cooking up burgers and dogs. See you tonight!
