A SWAT team surrounded a house in West Jordan this afternoon after a man threatened two people with a knife and a gun. Police are still looking for that man.
Just a couple of hours ago, a SWAT team went inside the house near 4400 West and 9100 South and searched it, but didn't find the man they were looking for.
Police know who he is. They've identified him as 24-year-old Michael Daniel Lippincott. Police say he doesn't live in the house. The homeowner told them that Lippincott was just an overnight guest.
Police believe Lippincott is from the Taylorsville area. This morning a girl who lives in the neighborhood was walking by the house with a friend. Police say when some dogs began to bark, Lippincott came out of the house and screamed at the girls and asked them what they was doing there. One of the girls went home and told her family what happened.
West Jordan police Sgt. Greg Butler said, "She left, she went home and told her family what was going on. I believe it was her brother that came back with her to ask this guy what his problem was. He came out again, this time he had a knife and a handgun, and he said, 'get out of here or I'll kill you.' They went back home and called the police."
Police called out the SWAT team. They tried to make contact with Lippincott inside the house. When it was clear no one was home, they went inside and found that Lippincott had left.
Police have talked to the homeowner. They say he wasn't home at the time and is cooperating
Again police are looking for Michael Lippincott and are getting a warrant for his arrest. Police say he has a criminal history out of Colorado. They do consider him armed and dangerous, and they say he'll be charged with two counts of aggravated assault.
If you know where Lippincott is, you are asked to call the West Jordan Police Department at 801-256-2036.
