AMERICAN FORK — An elderly woman was seriously injured when a car crashed into an American Fork salon Wednesday, police said.

The 82-year-old woman was inside Fantastic Sams at 76 N. 100 East just after 11 a.m. when a sedan plowed into the business, said American Fork Police Sgt. Cameron Paul.

The woman was taken by ambulance to a hospital in serious condition, but is "expected to recover and be fine," Paul said.

The 86-year-old man driving the car told police he accidentally pressed his foot on the accelerator instead of the brake, the sergeant said. He was unhurt.

The entire vehicle ended up inside the business.
