SALT LAKE CITY (AP) -- The federal department of Veterans Affairs is handing out $36.7 million in grant funding for homeless veterans and Utah is getting a share.

The grants are earmarked to create 1,526 new beds for homeless vets.

Terry Schow, the executive director for the VA in Utah, says the state's share is $113,607. The money will go to the Homeless Veterans Fellowship in Ogden. It will fund eight beds in a new building in that area.

Schow says the grant award is a testament to years of great work by the Ogden program.
