OGDEN — A fire inside an industrial building caused $400,000 in damage Friday, authorities reported.

The fire at GSC Foundries, 2738 S. Commerce Way, was reported shortly after 6 p.m. Everyone inside the building was able to get out safely before firefighters arrived, said Ogden deputy fire chief Eric Bauman.

Most of the fire's significant damage was contained to metal fabrication equipment inside the building, Bauman said. None of the fire spread beyond the manufacturing area of the building, which houses an aluminum foundry, he said. The building as a whole was not considered a total loss.

The cause of the fire was unknown Friday night. The Roy Fire Department assisted Ogden crews for a total of 19 firefighters at the scene.
